It is well known in creative field that constraints are a form of freedom. I have confirmed this myself. Too many options can be paralysing, and constraints are liberating: for example, working with what you have, use only certain sounds, etc. This kind of turns activities into little games where you have to achieve the creative objective given the constraints. This is a component for finding [[flow]] as described by [[Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi]]. I am a big believer in Mihaly’s claim that [[turning activities into games supports finding flow]], and constraints a re a way of doing it. More details in my notes on his foundational book: [[Flow (Csikszentmihalyi, 1990)]]
