This is an incredibly fun project developed as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Sydney Opera House. https://www.sydneyoperahouse.com/birthday-festival/music-sails In collaboration with Music Studio Uncanny Valley and the Interactive Media Lab at UNSW Sydney, we developed a generative AI audiovisual installation that transforms the data from the building into a visual and sonic one-month performance. ![[Pasted image 20231005111101.png]] ## How we did it The Opera House is a sort of living system. It has automated systems that regulate crucial things like temperature, energy use and CO2. These systems generate real-time data. As a homage to these hidden systems, we decided to turn these data into a performance. We read the data in real time and pass it to GPT-4. We ask it to interpret the data. We then give GPT-4 access to a custom built engine that generates music. We ask GPT-4 to generate music that matches the "feeling" of the data.
